After a three-year coaching stint with the San Diego Padres, the Detroit Tigers named Alan Trammell their manager for the 2003 Major League Baseball season. Trammell, who played with the Tigers for 20 years, was thrilled to try his hand at managing his longtime and revered Club. Trammell managed the franchise for three seasons, and Tigers fans were glad to have their former MLB All-Star, and future Hall of Famer represent them in the back office.
