Down to their final out, trailing, 5-4, to the National League All-Stars, Williams stepped up to bat with two runners on base. The San Diego, California, native put a drive into a pitch delivered from Claude Passeau and sent it well into the right-field stands at for the game-winner. The 54,674 fans at Briggs Stadium erupted as Ted rounded the bases. "I've never been so happy," said Williams.
