JUNE 13, 1921 — “The Bambino” came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning and did something no other player had ever done. Babe slugged a mammoth blast into the center-field bleachers at the Polo Grounds, traveling an estimated 460-feet. The blast was Babe’s second home run of the game and extended the Yankees lead over the Tigers to 13-5.
