Jacob deGrom struck out 13 Braves batters and hit a home run to become the first pitcher in Major League history to accomplish that feat twice in one season; deGrom homered and struck out 14 Marlins on April 3. deGrom's highlight was striking out eight consecutive Braves batters. Although the Mets lost in 14 innings, their pitchers combined to strike out 26 batters to set a franchise record.
