In what had been a pitching duel between Mets starter Jacob deGrom and Atlanta starter Mike Soroka, Yoenis broke the scoreless tie with a solo homer off Chris Martin in the seventh inning. This was also the first time in MLB history that a designated hitter had been used in a game between two National League teams.
