MAY 17, 1971 — The Pirates were facing a 5-2 deficit in the eighth frame when Clemente sparked a late-inning rally with a solo home run. The blast was followed by a Bob Robertson homer to narrow the gap to 5-4. Clemente stepped up to the plate again in the bottom of the ninth inning with two runners aboard, two outs and another chance to demonstrate his heroics. The superstar did not disappoint, lacing a bases-clearing triple to give the Pirates a walk-off, 6-5 win.
