APRIL 20, 1983 — Visiting Detroit for just one game, the Kansas City Royals George Brett arrived as one of the hottest hitters to start the 1983 season. Hitting .429 in his first nine games, Brett was ready to feast on Tigers pitching and he did just that. The third baseman produced seven of the club's eight runs en route to the 8-7 win. Three of George's four hits were home runs – two off of Detroit's starter Jack Morris and a ninth inning blast off of Howard Bailey.
