SEPTEMBER 29, 1987 — In a season in which it seemed like Don Mattingly never failed to come through in bases-loaded situations, the first baseman made it official. Mattingly launched his sixth grand slam of the season, the most in the history of the Game, with just five days remaining in the campaign. The prodigious blast gave him his 29th homer and 114th RBI of the stellar season.
