Brandon Lowe was named AL Rookie of the Month after he hit .289 with six home runs, five doubles, a triple and 17 RBI. The young infielder also contributed three stolen bases as he helped power the Tampa Bay Rays to a fast start. Pete Alonso's debut month earned him NL Rookie of the Month honors after he batted .292 with nine home runs, which led all MLB rookies, and drove in 26 runs. Alonso tied the franchise record for home runs before May 1.
