It’s not easy to describe how impressive of a season Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani had, but his historic efforts will be enshrined with the 2023 American League Most Valuable Player Award. It’s the second time he’s won the accolade, first since 2021, and becomes the only Japan-born player to reach that peak multiple times. Ohtani’s attributes at the plate wowed the Baseball world, leading the AL with 44 homers, a .412 OBP, and a .614 SLG. The 29-year-old stood tall on the mound, too, pitching to a 3.14 ERA with a 10-5 record and 167 punchouts in 23 starts.
