The 2023 season just started and Gerrit Cole is already breaking records. The ace threw 11 strikeouts in the New York Yankees game against the San Francisco Giants, which breaks the franchise record for most strikeouts on Opening Day. The record has stood for over 30 years with Tim Leary striking out nine in 1991. Cole continued to join good company Thursday, becoming the second player in MLB history, behind Nolan Ryan, to notch 300 or more strikeouts with three different Clubs.
