After qualifying for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, Team Czech Republic was excited to introduce the planet to Czech Baseball. It didn’t take them long, for in their first contest of Pool B play, they defeated Team China, 8–5. The game started off with a two-run first inning before outfielder Matej Mensik belted a solo homer in the third inning for the Nation’s first in World Baseball Classic history. In the ninth, Martin Muzik sealed the deal with an exciting three-run, go-ahead blast over the left-field wall.
