JUNE 24, 1979 — In what should come as no surprise to any Rickey Henderson fan, the then-20-year-old stole the first base of his MLB career in his big-league debut. Henderson notched his first two hits in the same contest, with one of them being a double hit off Texas Rangers hurler John Henry Johnson. Unfortunately for Henderson and his Athletics, the Rangers would take home the victory, 5-1.
