Jackie Robinson Day has been a highlight of the MLB season every year since its introduction, but the first time the day was celebrated was in 1997 at Shea Stadium. The date marked the 50th anniversary of Robinson's Major League debut and was befitting for the most mythical of celebrations. Not only was then-commissioner Bud Selig in attendance, but so too was Jackie's wife Rachel and President Bill Clinton.
