JULY 19, 1920 — In the second contest of a doubleheader between Babe Ruth's New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox, Ruth hit his 30th and 31st home runs of the 1920 season. This personal-record-breaking, 30th home run came when Ruth connected with a pitch from White Sox hurler Dickie Kerr. Ruth would go on to hit 54 home runs over the course of his 1920 MLB campaign, which was a new all-time, single-season high.
