Larry Doby broke the color barrier in the American League when he made his MLB debut for the Cleveland Indians on July 5, 1947. Doby played 10 seasons for Cleveland, seven of which he was named to the AL All-Star Team. Larry also played an instrumental role in the 1948 World Series where he helped the Indians achieve their second title. The number 14 that Doby sported during his trailblazing tenure with the Indians was officially retired.
