JUNE 26, 2003 — Edgar Martinez cemented himself as a Seattle Mariners all-time great by passing Ken Griffey Jr. for the most RBI in franchise history. The slugger entered the contest against the Angels an RBI short of Griffey Jr.'s 1,152 total, when a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning gave him the lead. After the game, Martinez said, "It means the Club has wanted to keep me around and I've done a good job. I feel satisfaction from that."
