Dennis Eckersley earned his 40th save of the 1992 season after securing the final out of the contest to defeat the Baltimore Orioles 7-3. With this effort, the Oakland, California hurler became the first pitcher in MLB history to record four seasons of 40-plus saves. Eckersley reached the plateau in 1988, 1990, 1991 and 1992. Dennis would go on to finish this season leading the League in games finished (65) and saves (51) to take home AL Cy Young and MVP honors.
