Pitching in the final season of his 17-year, Hall-of-Fame career, Milwaukee Brewers closer Rollie Fingers slammed the door shut on the Texas Rangers for a 6-5 win. Fingers' first save of the season was the 217th American League save of his career – passing reliever Sparky Lyle for most all-time by an American League pitcher.
