Trailing, 2-1, to the Kansas City Royals in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Yankees turned to Darryl Strawberry to provide them a lift. With a roaring crowd of 35,658 on their feet at Yankee Stadium, Strawberry worked a full-count and struck a fastball for a walk-off, two-run blast. This longball marked the 300th of Strawberry's career, and after the game he was quoted saying, "Today is even more special because this is New York. This is where I started my career. It's where I've had all of my success."
