Following a special first pitch thrown by Vice President Spiro T. Agnew, the 1969 MLB All-Star Game at RFK Stadium was taken over by the bat of Willie McCovey. The 6-foot-4 slugger, representing the Giants, started at first base and batted cleanup for the NL All-Stars. McCovey would go on to launch two home runs over the course of his 2-for-4, three-RBI game to take home MVP honors of the exhibition. Willie's spectacular performance lifted the NL All-Stars to a 9-3 victory.
