JULY 21, 1973 — With one runner on base in the bottom of the third inning, Atlanta Braves slugger Hank Aaron stepped to plate at Atlanta Stadium in front of 16,236 roaring home fans. Pitcher Ken Brett wound up and dealt an inside pitch to Aaron and "Hammerin' Hank" would go on to send it over the left-field wall for a two-run homer for his 27th of the year. With this blast, Aaron joined Babe Ruth as the only players in MLB history to reach the 700 mark for home runs.
