OCTOBER 12, 1967 — The Cardinals turned the ball over to Bob Gibson after the Red Sox stormed back from a 3-1 series deficit to force a Game 7 in the World Series. Yet, Gibson appeared unfazed by the streaking Red Sox. The right-hander came out hot with four hitless innings and then added to his cause with a fifth-inning home run. Gibson went on to complete the game with 10 strikeouts. The dominant performance led the Cardinals to the 1967 World Series title.
