Washington Washington Nationals
On July 12, Max Scherzer struck out 16 Reds in seven innings to set a career high and tie the franchise record for strikeouts in a game. The 31-year-old right-hander allowed just one run on three hits while walking none and lowering his ERA to 2.05. Scherzer fanned Joey Votto three times and tied the major-league record with six consecutive strikeouts to start a game.
