With a solo shot earlier in the game, Alvarez then followed up with a grand slam in the seventh and a two-run home run in the ninth. The seven RBI brought his season total to 51 through his first 45 career games, surpassing Ted Williams' previous record of 47 RBI through his first 45 games in 1939.
